New Zealand law does not permit genetic modification for animals and animal feed. It is illegal to import GM (genetically modified) seeds and nursery stock into New Zealand without approval from the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) and NZ MPI has strict import rules to ensure no unapproved GM material arrives into the country.
